Toluna Beginner’s Webinar Q&A – August 10, 2016

Where does the $3.00 go upon joining?

This will be shown in your account. You can view this in the “My Points” section.

Are the contests the same on every site?

No, certain contests are for specific social media outlets or only for the Toluna site. Follow each of our accounts to enter all of the contests.

How do I clear my notifications?

Unfortunately, this is something we are still working on. We are aware of this issue and are working as quickly as possible to fix it.

Will there be a replay of this webinar?

Since this was a live webinar, it cannot be replayed. We will be offering another webinar in December, or you can view our recorded tutorials here.

What does one do when another Toluna member post a very rude remark to your content?

Please contact us at feedback.europe@toluna.com or the “Contact Us” form at the bottom of the page with the link to the content and the member’s username.

How long will it take to receive a check?

Once you request a check it can take up to 6-8 weeks to process. For faster payments, try our Paypal option.

Is there a minimum age to be a member?

Yes, 14 years old. 🙂

Do you offer a referral program?

Yes, you can invite your friends to join Toluna by going to ” My Account” and under “Sharing Preferences” you can send them emails to join. You will earn 500 points for every friend who registers an account.

Is there an instruction manual or PDF available for constant reference?

You can view all of this information in our FAQ section or view our tutorials on our blog.

Is there a max amount of points we can earn per day?

No, there is no maximum amount of points you can earn per day. Please be aware that points do expire though. See question below.

Did you say that points can expire?

Yes, points expire one year, on the 28th day, after they are earned. For example: if you earn 1000 points August 10, 2016, they will expire on August 28, 2017.

Is there a way not to have me fill in a lot of information only to find out I’m “not the correct demographic?

This is because some surveys are looking for a very specific group of people who meet a very narrow set of demographic criteria. Sometimes, determining whether someone qualifies for a survey takes just a few questions, other times it may take more questions. Please know we appreciate your participation and that even when you don’t qualify, your participation helps contribute to the success of the study.

 

Are we allowed to change our profile name?

Yes, you can change your username only once after registration. Go to your account settings.

Can we still access our account if we are traveling?

You can still go into the community but since your IP address will be different then where you registered, it may bring up red flags in our system and not allow you to participate in surveys.

Will you have test products in Canada?

We are still working on this. Right now, we still don’t have a firm answer.

What do I do if I have technical problems?

Please email your account information, Survey ID, and any valid screen shots along with your issue to feedback.europe@toluna.com or the “Contact Us” form at the bottom of the page.

1. How do you earn bonus points?

Rank up bonuses are given at the discretion of the Toluna staff. We don’t reward everyone every day. We scour the dashboard looking for high quality content. Here is some information on rank up

2. What is #tolunadinner, can you go over this again?

#Tolunadinner is our May Instagram & Twitter contest. Here is a link with details on how to enter. We have a new theme each month, so keep checking back for more opportunities.

3. How can you reach members to write on their wall ,when clicking on their icon doesn’t work?

You can always type in us.toluna.com/people/ (type username here)

4. How can many times can a member test products? Do we earn points when we test products? How do you get chosen?

You are unlimited to the amount of times you can test a product. Please do note, however, that test products are very popular and we have a limited amount to send out to our members. You do earn points for testing products. Test products are chosen based on the demographic our clients are looking for. Sometimes this can be random, sometimes this is more specific to either gender, location etc.

Thank you to those members who attended our webinar on Friday, April 3rd, 2015. As promised, I have answered all of your questions here.

How do I go about getting extra points? Do I get points for creating polls etc?
To earn more points, members can create content. Good quality content will receive ‘rank-up’ bonuses of either 100, 500 or 1000 points. Remember to add media to you content!

When creating topics and battles, where do I find pictures to go with it?
To add media, you can either upload a file from your computer or search for one through our tool. To add one from your computer, you need to click on the camera symbol then ‘Upload a file’. To get one from the internet, you click on the camera symbol and you will see a search box, type what you’re looking for and then click on the image you want. Once you have done this, you click on ‘Save’.

I followed the directions for the Toluna Webinar but failed to get any sound through my computer (Mac). Someone answered that there was an app I could get. Can you advise? The pictures alone were easy enough to understand, but if I am invited to a Webinar again I would rather it worked.
At the moment, our members can only access the webinar from the link that we provide following up to the day. On the day, you will normally receive an email with the link also so check for this once you have signed up for it. We do however have a Toluna app where members can take part in surveys.

Can I get test products in South Africa?
Unfortunately this is not available in South Africa yet.

Can you please tell me why it takes so long from the time I redeem a e voucher or on PayPal to be actioned.
All voucher rewards can take between 2 to 8 weeks to be processed. We sometimes experience delays and so they can be a little late. You check the status of all your rewards by clicking on My Rewards on the drop menu next to your profile picture, you will then need to change the dates accordingly at the top.

When do the points get credited?
Points earned by attending the webinar will be awarded sometime this week.

Why do points take so long to be added?
Points are usually added at the beginning of every month, for example, if you won 1000 points from a contest on the 10th of March, you will receive your points around the first week of April.

If we post our comments or views, would we be rewarded?
We encourage our members to post their views and comments on other members’ content. When moderating the site, we’ll check through these and if we feel that they are nice comments; helping a member with a site related issue, giving opinion about something, welcoming new members etc.

  1. Are we able to private message anyone in the community?
    1. At this time we do not have a private messaging feature for community members, however that is a great idea and we will consider it for our next website update.
  2. Are other people in the same house allowed to sign up with different emails
    1. Yes, members of the same household can sign up for Toluna.
  3. Can you earn points if you refer a friend?
    1. Yes, you will receive 500 points for each referral once your friend completes their Toluna registration.
  4. Do people get points for commenting on blog posts?
    1. At this time we do not offer points for commenting on our blog posts; however, we post blogs regularly that tell you about contests and opportunities to earn more points on Toluna.
  5. Do points still expire? How can we tell the point amounts that will be expiring? Will we be notified?
    1. Yes, points expire one year after they are posted to your account. You can check this each month by going to “Points” and selecting the appropriate date range. Or by clicking on this link: https://us.toluna.com/YourZone/points
    2. You will be notified about expiring points once you login to your account and also on the My Points page.
  6. Do you receive an actual gift card or code?
    1. Most rewards are distributed with an e-code that can also be used as a gift card if you print it out and bring into the store. However, please  check the rules and regulations for each reward offered in the Rewards Center
  7. Why did the points go up to redeem Paypal?

  8. How much is 100 points worth in United States Dollars?
    1. 100 points = $0.03
  9. Why do you collect information on race and ethnicity?
    1. We collect this information because our surveys may target certain demographics within your race or ethnicity. To better understand how Toluna collects, uses and shares your personal information, please review our privacy policy, which is availablehere.
  10. Do you give an anniversary bonus, such as being a member for a year?
    1. At this time we do not offer anniversary bonuses, but this feature may be added soon!
  11. How long has Toluna existed?
    1. Toluna was established in 2000.
  12. Are we ever told the results of the surveys?
    1. We cannot divulge the information we collect from surveys due to client confidentiality, however we do publish some of our Quick Surveys results which can be found on our Toluna Quick Surveys Twitter account: twitter.com/tolunaquick
  13. Is there a Canadian Toluna site?
    1. Yes, you can visit our Canadian site at ca.toluna.com
  14. If someone is having issues with using Toluna, how do they get help?
    1. You can contact our help desk, a link is located at the bottom of Toluna.com entitled “contact”
  15. Why do I not qualify for all surveys?
    1. Some surveys are looking for a very specific group on people who meet a very narrow set of demographic or other criteria. Sometimes, determining whether someone qualifies for a survey takes just a few questions other times, it may take more questions. Please know that we appreciate your participation and that even when you don’t qualify, your participation helps contribute to the success of the study.
  16. Are there any rules about adding photos that we find on the Internet but don’t own the right to?
    1. While we do not have a specific policy in place regarding this topic, we ask that member’s posts adhere to our Member Code of Conduct, and post only images and text that are appropriate for all audiences. As a good rule of thumb though – if you’re not sure you should use an image, don’t. Some images are copyrighted and you may be opening a can of worms by posting them online.
      1. Member Content and License: You hereby give a non-exclusive, perpetual, unlimited, worldwide, royalty-free right to Toluna to use for any purpose any content you submit to this Site, including the right to edit, copy, transmit, publish, display, modify, distribute, create derivative works from and develop such content and to transfer such content to third parties. You, not Toluna, will have sole responsibility and liability for all content you use, upload, post or submit to the Site, including on our message boards and in any Survey in which you participate, including the obligation to obtain any necessary approvals and authorizations required to post such content.

  1. I’ve never been able to test a product. Does living on the West Coast prevent my chances?
    1. Everyone has an equal opportunity to test products. We try our best to post the products at a time when all members have access to the information, and we select testers at random from all eligible entries
  2. Can I test products if I am from Canada?
    1. Unfortunately, test products are not currently available in Canada but we are working on this, and hope to add this feature soon.
  3. How many USA members does Toluna currently have?
    1. Currently, there are millions toluna members in the US

  1. How long does it take to get paid by check?
    1. Checks payments are processed each week, and we work to have them mailed within 3 weeks of your request date. Please do note however, that in some circumstances it may take up to 6 weeks for your payment to mail, although we do our best to limit the wait time.
  2. How often is the product testing?
    1. Product testing can be as frequents as every week, or every month. Please check the product testing page if you would like to participate in these events.
  3. Is there an incentive for testing products?
    1. Yes you do receive an incentive once you fill out the mandatory questionnaire or directions that come with the product you are testing.
  4. Is there any way to have a better chance at getting picked for product testing?
    1. Unfortunately the only option I can suggest it to fill out all of your profile surveys so that we can accurately determine if you are in the qualified demographic for the product to test. You can find the profile surveys here: https://us.toluna.com/interestsurveys
